Message	wasnt the fastest (it could hang with the zx when the z was stock) but was still fast enough and the handling was very impressive, braking was great and parts didnt break the bank too bad. If you can work on your z, then the e36 will be cake to work on for you. I have always liked the 240, so either choice is solid, in my opipion.
